Rookie team-mate
Kazuki Nakajima drew level on points with the third year 'veteran' with eighth place at Silverstone, and could have moved ahead of him had he not lost seventh place on the last lap.
Williams is now only a point ahead of
Renault and, more surprisingly, just two clear of
Honda, which picked up its own surprise podium in the British Grand Prix.
"Magny-Cours was fairly poor while, in Monaco and Montreal, we had the potential to get some good results, but they were probably not Nico's best races." Head said, "It's obviously not ideal, but what do you do? You sort it out.... and that's what we'll do."
Rosberg started the British Grand Prix from the pit-lane but, despite another unscheduled visit to replace a damaged nose, came through to claim ninth place in tricky conditions.
"It was pretty difficult out there," he confirmed, "When the rain started, there were just rivers of water everywhere which, on wets, caused everyone to aquaplane all over the place. Circuit conditions were continually changing as well, which caused the water to move around, making it quite hard to tell where the best line was.
"It wasn't an easy race, but we definitely had the strategy right and came in for the extreme wets at precisely the right moment. After that, it was going well until the incident with Timo [Glock]. He was ten seconds a lap slower than me but, running behind him, visibility was zero in certain corners, and I was in the back of him. It's a big disappointment, but I am now looking forward to Hockenheim. It's my home grand prix and I expect us to go better there because the track is more suited to our car."
Nakajima appeared to be on course for seventh place until he was caught and passed by veteran
Jarno Trulli on the 60th and final lap at
Silverstone.
"It was good to score a point again, but it was a shame to lose seventh place to Jarno on the last lap," the Japanese driver admitted, "His tyres were in a better condition than mine, though, and he was just a bit quicker than me in the final laps when the track was drying out."
