Glock fine on first day back after German GP off.

Formula 1 » Glock fine on first day back after German GP off.

Timo Glock: "It was good to get back in the car and that was a positive day's testing. The main thing is that I've made a full recovery from my accident on Sunday."

Toyota has confirmed that Timo Glock reported no ill-effects today [Thursday] at Jerez, as he returned to the cock-pit just four days following his heavy crash at Sunday's German Grand Prix.

Glock managed 78 tours in total around the 4.428 kilometre track in the extreme south of Spain and despite very hot conditions completed his programme without any physical issues. The only minor problem he had was a mechanical one with the fuel system, which curtailed his running slightly prematurely.

"It was good to get back in the car and that was a positive day's testing for us," said the German. "We pushed hard in the morning and we were able to get through most of our plan for the day before lunch.

"That was useful because in the afternoon here it gets too hot and the track is just too slow to get a clear picture out of the car. Late on we had a fuel system issue but we had already gathered the data we wanted.

"The main thing is that I've made a full recovery from my accident on Sunday and I feel fine."

Toyota's test team manager Gerd Pfeiffer meanwhile was also happy with the way the day went and in total Glock did just under 350 kilometres. His best lap was a 1 minute 20.421 seconds, which left him eighth quickest out of ten on the unofficial timesheets.

"Today we ran through a similar programme with Timo to what we completed with Jarno [Trulli] yesterday. In the morning we concentrated on set-up for the Hungarian Grand Prix before we switched to aerodynamic tests," he added.

"It was another productive day of work and Timo made it through a lot of laps without suffering any ill-effects from his accident at the weekend. We were close to finishing our planned programme when an issue with the fuel system brought our day's running to a close."

Toyota will now conclude its four-day test - like all the other teams - on Friday, with third driver Kamui Kobayashi taking over as planned.
