Ongoing work may delay the start of the Valencia street circuit's debut event, but organisers are confident that the track will be a hit.

Regional government president Francisco Camps, who showed Ecclestone around the emerging circuit in recent weeks, is confident that the venue will stand out, not only for its unique backdrop, but also by producing good racing.

"Spain has once more given the best image of itself, one of modernity, commitment and a belief in our own possibilities," he claimed, "The whole world will see that we have been capable of, a great feat of engineering and an infrastructure that is befitting of sport at this level.

"It is very hard to find a circuit with these characteristics," he said of the convergence between F1 and ocean racing, "Just as it was designed, so has it been set up. I have to thank all the citizens of the Valencian community who have believed since the start that this was the best way to tell the world that we are a great community, that we are a great territory and that anything we decide to do, however ambitious it may seem, we are capable of doing."
