Colombian sensation Juan Pablo Monoya has insisted he has made the 'right decision' to join Team McLaren-Mercedes in 2005, despite their woeful start to the new season.
Speaking to
BBC Sport Online, JPM, who currently drives for
Williams, added that it was better to join a team that was slightly struggling as it would make winning with them all the more 'worthwhile'.
"It doesn't worry me that they're bogged down," he commented, "If the first year is a disaster, it doesn't matter.
"I feel their future potential is very good. I made the right decision."
"Right now, they have had lots of bad luck with the car, more than anything the motor," he added. "They've done lots of things that are very good for the future but right now it's very difficult.
"The truth is that it seems better to join
McLaren with a car that is fast but not the winner because if you join McLaren and they've got the winning car you're just joining the winning team, which isn't as worthwhile."
McLaren have scored
just four points thus far this season, while Williams have managed 19 points, and runaway leaders
Ferrari, 51.
