EG:
It will be tough. Everything that’s new always needs time to be worked on. There are eras in everything – in motorsport just as in every other area of life – things are always starting and finishing. I think this is the start for a new manufacturer. It will have to be strong to beat a chassis that has been established in the market for a long time, but every era also has an end and that’s what we want to create here – the beginning of one era and the end of another.
Q:
You have done the majority of the testing for Ultimate so far. What are your initial impressions of the car like?
EG:
Very positive. It’s a good car that behaves very well aerodynamically. We still have some things to solve, like on any new car, but we have sorted out many other things already. We learned a lot from the car in the four days we tested it. The weather didn’t help much because it was always rain then stopping, rain then stopping, but we found many things we can improve. It’s not only out on the track but in the workshop too. We are pushing every day.
Q:
What is the atmosphere like inside the team?
EG:
Excellent. We like and trust each other a lot, and that’s the basis of being successful.
Q:
Obviously being Ultimate’s maiden season 2007 is going to be a learning year essentially, but have you set out any aims or expectations for the campaign?
EG:
No, not really. It’s not about setting goals for the season or for individual races. Here the only goal we have is to make each other closer and stronger. The stronger we get the quicker we will be challenging the others. We all have to put the effort in together and improve every day.
