Mygale have put in a lot of hard work too; they know they need to be up there by the end of the season so they are pushing hard and improving all the time, and if together we can get the car up close to the top Dallara teams come the final rounds I think we will have done a very good job.
We’re still struggling a little bit to get the best out of our car in qualifying – that’s our weakness at the moment – but we are at Pembrey for three days to work on that and I think we may have it sorted now.
By the time we get to Spa-Francorchamps in a week’s time hopefully we will be even faster and capable of running consistently in the top six or eight. Last time we did a test like this was just before the start of the season, so it’s been good to come back and do another one, and if we have fixed our qualifying problem we should be able to go for podiums now.
It will be my first time at Spa, but I’ve heard lots of good things about the place. It’s nice and long and fast, and hopefully that should suit our car. Normally I learn tracks fairly quickly, and we will have plenty of practice time there so I think I should be pretty much up-to-speed by the end of the first session. From what Esteban has told me it’s a real drivers’ circuit too, and one that requires a lot of balls!
I’m particularly looking forward to going there on the back of our good result at Brands. Fourth place was great; now what we really want is to be scoring podiums and better. It’s just a matter of keeping on working and continuing to push forwards, and hopefully by the end of the year we could be in a position to get a win. That’s what we are aiming for.
I’ll talk to you again later,
Michael
