Obviously I think it will make a bit of a difference when my exams are over, but not too much. I’m still very focused on the racing; I’m still able to train every day, even when I’ve got exams. It’s actually quite a nice way to relax and get away from the revision. I suppose my mind will be a bit clearer once the exams are out of the way, but I work hard on my schedule to make sure I’m in the best possible shape for the races - even at this busy period.
Despite a hectic schedule, I still manage to train every day. In the summer I’ll be training a bit more – maybe even doing two sessions a day which will partly be preparation for next year. My fitness level is more than adequate for dealing with F3 but I don’t know what next year will bring and I don’t want my fitness to hold me back – I need to be ready for the next step up. It’s also important to be mentally ready to race – to be calm and relaxed but also focused on getting the results – and that’s something I work on before the start of the race weekend.
It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to this point and I’m racing in F3 this year thanks to the Racing Steps Foundation – and I consider myself very lucky to be doing so. Winning races is the best feeling in the world. To drive an F3 car is a very special feeling and I plan to make the most of it this season.
