With no need to look in the rear view mirrors, Dirani was able to put in a fastest lap of his own, but this was then bettered the very next tour by Asmer, although he was soon to find himelf back in the clutches of Conway's Fortec.
Asmer then was unable to get back to the mission at hand, and instead found himself paying attention to the battle behind whilst Dirani was able to extend his lead to a very comfortable 4.8 seconds come the chequered flag.
"Everyobody wants to win, for us it's the same but difficult as we only got the car a month and a half ago," said a jubliant Dirani on the victors' podium. "Two firsts is amazing. We do our best to keep improving and getting better."
For Marko Asmer it was a very good result considering he only just made the race. "It was very difficult," explained Asmer. who suffered a clutch problem in the first race meaning his poor getaway on that occasion. "This time it was too much wheel spin at the start, so second was a very good result as we managed to get the car on the grid at the very last minute."
Mike Conway took third. "It was okay, not a bad weekend," he said. "I just screwed up at the first lap, the tyres were too cold and I went wide at the old hairpin."
National class honours were taken in emphatic fashion by T Sport's Barton Mawer. "That was a bit more of what we were hoping for," said a beaming Barton after the race. "Hopefully that's what we'll be able to do a bit more of that."
