One driver who always puts up a fight, and impresses whether it's wet or dry is reigning Scholarship class (as it was then) champion, Ryan Lewis. T-Sport run Lewis, who is currently in fifth place in the standings, and team boss Russell Eacott rates his young charger:
“It's a big jump from the championship class for him, but he's worked hard over the winter, we did a lot of testing to get him up to speed and in the wet he's just naturally gifted,” explains Eacott. “In the races like at
Donington he set a new lap record, he very good in the races, we need to do a little bit of work in qualifying, just get a little bit of consistency to improve his grid positions in qualifying and I think he has a good chance, it's all about scoring points every weekend.” Which is exactly what Ryan will be aiming for this weekend.
Elsewhere in the Championship class, Steven Kane should be strong. After his very late in the day deal to join the series in a Lola with Promatecme, Kane showed his true pace in the wet qualifying at Spa to take pole, and was very impressive at Donington given his limited experience of a car that had been only just bolted together for that meeting.
Over at Fortec, Mike Conway's team-mate James Walker will be hoping to get some points on the board and Royane O'Mahony will be hoping he doesn't have a moment like he did when he crashed at Spa.
In the National class, another driver who managed the unfortunate feat of crashing in both Spa qualifying sessions, but leads the class is Australian Barton Mawer. The T-Sport driver has been very handy behind the wheel of his T-Sport Dallara, but there's plenty of drivers to challenge for that class lead and Mawer is only three points ahead of SWR's Josh Fisher and Charlie Hollings in the Promatecme Lola National class car is also likely to be one to watch this weekend.
Last year saw current Championship class leader Danilo Dirani take a double victory at
Croft, this weekend could be interesting…
