Double R Racing's Dan Clarke proved dominant in the first race of the day in the British F3 International Series at Castle Combe.
Clarke made a better start than pole-sitter Charlie Kimball and once he had held off the affections of Alvaro Parente, Clarke made space for himself and was off into the distance at the head of the field, to some 1.7 seconds on the completion of the second lap.
A safety car period was brought about just ahead of the half-way mark as series returnee Adam Kahn deposited his Performance Racing Dallara along the pit-straight.
Come the restart Clarke was soon back off into the distance, with Alvaro Parente behind having team-mate Charlie Kimball keeping him very honest.
At the end of the twentieth lap Edenbridge Racing's Cheong Lou Meng went straight into the barriers at Camp. The Chinese driver jumped out of his car soon enough, but officials opted for the red flag and to declare the race results on the running order at the end of the previous lap.
National class saw Salvador Duran take the victory ahead of local lad Josh Fisher, who survived an off at the Esses as he was closing on the Mexican driver.
