In terms of Carlin entering Formula One, It’s a bit of a gamble, bit of a risk, but with the rule changes that Max Mosely’s introduced for 2008, it’s put a bit of a cap on the expenditure involved in
Formula One. It’s never going to be cheap and I don’t think that’s what the public want, they want the glamour and the pinnacle of engineering, but just be introducing longer life engines and gearboxes, the ability to buy chassis’ from other teams, I think that’s good for the sport and we thought we’d try and make it this time, if we don’t make it this time we’ll try again but we’re keen and we’ve got some great people who would join the team if we did it.
We’ve got some capital available to start building a team and we’d get a core of about twenty people and then start a long list of all the people we are going to need to start the team and the biggest job would then be raising the finance required and start seeing what is available for the end of 2007. It will be a two pronged attack but the money is the most important thing. We would run initially from out own premises and we’d be looking to set up in the long term near our base near Woking.
Our recent century of wins was one of those landmark moments, something I never thought we’d achieve, we’d sat at ninety nine for quite a while, it’s hard to win a race, you always think maybe you’ve ridden your luck for a bit too long and you’re always wondering. If had gone on for much longer I’d have probably done an ARP race just to put it to bed! It’s a great landmark and a testament to the team really, last year we won twenty odd races and if we can do the same again this year that would be fantastic.
