I think that this season I can push forward and the fact that I am in my second season of F3 with the team will help me. The experience I have from a year of competition helps in things like qualifying and in the race as I know what to do and have been there before while some of the others are still getting to grips with things and getting used to the set-up of the championship. In this early part of the season, the first few races are always unpredictable as anything can happen while teams and drivers are still settling in, but as the season goes on, my experience will help me more and more.
I think we have a good grid again in British F3 this year and there is a very high standard of driving. There are a lot of drivers with a good track record in other formula, maybe the field is a little stronger in the Euroseries but to be perfectly honest I don’t think it is a massive difference. The budget they have there and the support makes the difference.
I’m really excited as we move forward and of course next up we have the race at Pau – which is something I’m really looking forward to. I always enjoy a street circuit and I went quite well at Macau last year. Pau is a much shorter lap and a smaller track but it has many of the same characteristics as Macau. It can be narrow in some places and to be quick you have to be really on the limit and quite close to the walls and barriers. I think the experience from Macau will help me and you can’t underestimate how important street circuit experience will be. At Pau it will be very hard to overtake, there are hardly any places to overtake at all, so the weekend will be made or broken in qualifying. Getting a good lap in during qualifying will be crucial to decide how well things go during the weekend, I can guarantee that.
