I have had some running at Pau myself as this past weekend they had the classic car race and Maro and I teamed up to do an endurance race in a Lotus 23B from 1963 which was a good experience and quite a bit different. It helped us to get a feel for the track and learn the corners and it means that when we go into practice now we won’t need to spend the first half hour or so learning the track as we already know it and that can only be a good thing. We won our class in the race so it looks promising but then again a lot of the drivers there were gentleman drivers who were sitting there sipping their wine and smoking cigars away from the track, but still it was a lot of fun.
If I could get a repeat of that result in the two F3 races then I would be a happy man, that is something I am damn sure of. It would be the ideal scenario for me but it is a competitive series and anything can happen – and probably will on a street circuit. I’m very positive about the weekend though.
I think I will have to work hard for the rest of the season to keep getting the points to fight for the championship title but I don’t feel it is out of the question at all. We have only had two rounds so far and have plenty of races to come, it is a long year and anything can happen.
