Friday, 10th December 2004

Some time after the first race of the day finished, Jamie Green has finally been confirmed as the poleman for this afternoon's Bahrain F3 Superprix.

Among the biggest climbers in the eight laps that were run were two Britons, as Lewis Hamilton swapped a disappointing 22nd on the grid for eleventh by the flag, and James Rossiter went some way to atoning for his qualifying disaster by moving up from 31st to 19th. Between them, Giedo van der Garde (13th from 25th), Ross Zwolsman (15th from 24th and Menu Motorsport's Rob Austin (16th from 23rd) also made up valuable ground.

Where there were gainers, however, that had to be losers and France didn't come off too well as new Macau champion Alex Premat posted only the third retirement of the event to be classified in 29th position. With only John O'Hara and Italian champion Matteo Cressoni behind him on the Superprix grid, the ASM man will have his work cut out if he is to add a third 'major' to a haul that already includes Macau and Zandvoort.
