Although his season in the British F3 championship for 2004 with Menu Motorsports was cut short, Australian Will Davison has certainly gone from strength to strength since his last race in the British series, with races in the Australian V8 Supercar series and even a test of the Minardi F1 car.

Davison started his second season in the British series with high hopes, but funding, rather than results was the problem. Pre-season testing had looked very promising indeed, with the Menu Motorsports Dallara-Opel always at the front end, but come the season start the highly competitive nature of F3 in the UK came to the fore.

“It's been a very, very up and down year,” Will told Crash.net Radio as he looked back over his 2004 season. “Naturally the aim for the year was to compete in the full British F3 series and I went in it trying to win it as it was my second year.”

Davison's championship stretched from the season opener at xx to the with two races at each venue. “I had a reasonably strong start to the year, we had three podiums early on but we just couldn't get the support together out of Australia to continue in the season and unfortunately I had to part with Menu Motorsport after ten rounds and just come back to Australia, let the dust settle and weigh up my options of where I was at,” Wills explains of his departure.

Back to his home Melbourne, Davison had to consider what next, although he did know that no matter what he did he'd been assured a run in the Minardi F1 car thanks to fellow Aussie, Paul Stoddart.

“Fortunately I had a Minardi test promised to me from Paul Stoddard from the end of last year so that's kept me extremely motivated and focused on getting back over to Europe,” says Davison.
