Bahraini adds two more podiums to tally at Silverstone.

Hamad Al Fardan has continued to make solid progress in his debut season in the British F3 International Series after securing another two National Class podiums at Silverstone.

The Performance Racing driver endured a tough start to the weekend after problems in both practice and qualifying left him fifth on the class grid for the two races and with work to do to try and close the gap to the drivers ahead in the championship standings.

Hard work overnight from the Performance team meant Al Fardan was on the pace come race day, and a fine start in race one saw him quicky climb up to third place behind Sergio Perez and Frankie Cheng.

Battling with Brazilian Ernesto Ortero, Al Fardan slipped to fourth but then inherited a podium position when his team-mate Cheng retired in the closing stages after picking up a puncture.

After a decent start to the second race, Al Fardan quickly climbed up to third place and remained there until the finish for a result that sees him close in on third placed Michael Meadows in the championship standings.

“We started the season hoping to be in the top five and we are now in the top four and closing in on third, so I am very happy,” he told Crash.net Radio. “We've worked hard and have had good and bad weekends but we are starting to be consistent and get regular podiums which is good for me in my first year.

“It was difficult weekend as we had a problem with the car in qualifying and couldn't get a fast lap, which meant I was in P5 for both races, which isn't good. I had a good start in both races and put on consistent laps to get onto the podium which I'm very happy with.

“I haven't raced at Thruxton yet but I'm looking forward to it. I hear people talk about it and we will prepare well for it. The team will be pushing to the limit and we hope to be competitive there as well.”
