Having finally taken his first win in the British F3 International Series last time out at
Thruxton, Stephen Jelley made it two wins in a row at
Croft as Marko Asmer and Sergio Perez both wrapped championship titles.
Asmer was crowned overall champion when his only rival Maro Engel went off at Clervaux at the start after an incident with Carlin team-mate Niall Breen, which meant the Estonian could no longer be overhauled in the standings despite retiring from the race himself. For Perez meanwhile, second in the National Class behind Frankie Cheng was good enough for him to secure his own championship title.
When the race kicked off, a stunning start saw Asmer into the lead, but the incident behind allowed the Estonian to end the opening lap well clear of the field – headed by Jelley, Sam Bird and Greg Mansell, who had made a stunning start from eighth on the grid.
In the early stages, Asmer opened his lead out but it soon became apparent that all was not well with his Hitech Dallara and on lap 13 he was forced to retire, handing the lead to Jelley in the process.
With a small lead over Bird, the Double R man took a second F3 win in as many weeks, while Mansell ensured it was an all British podium in third despite the best efforts of Atte Mustonen who settled for fourth. Alberto Valerio and Mario Moraes completed the top six finishers.
Cheng took National Class honours in ninth overall with Perez second after battling past his T-Sport team-mate Salman Al Khalifa in the closing stages.
