Just three days after taking his debut win at Croft, British Formula Ford frontrunner James Nash enjoyed his debut Formula 3 test with Team West-Tec at Silverstone last week.

Driving one of the team's Spanish specification Dallaras, Nash impressed as he tested alongside team regular Christian Ebbesvik.

Finding the groove quickly, and on an ideal day for setting fast times, Nash recorded lap-times faster than any of the other six drivers who have tested for the team recently at the track, ending the day just a couple of tenths off Ebbesvik's best.

"The car was great to drive and the brakes were awesome compared to my Formula Ford," he said. "I felt at home straightaway, as Paul [South, team engineer] also works with us at Kevin Mills Racing in Formula Ford. Formula 3 is certainly one avenue we are thinking about for next year."

Joint team principal, Gavin Wills admitted he was shocked at the pace displayed by the Formula Ford racer on his first outing in an F3 car.

"James performed very well indeed - in fact we were gobsmacked by his pace in just his first run," he said. "As he continued to work with Paul, he managed to improve further. Christian did manage to go a bit quicker but he certainly had to put some effort in to do so!"
