Ultimate Motorsport will hope to secure a long awaited podium finish as the British F3 International Series season draws to a close this weekend at Rockingham.
The team, which was only unveiled in February this year, has grown into a front-running contender after developing the previously untried Mygale-Mercedes package this season, with drivers Esteban Guerrieri and Michael Devaney both posting best finishes of fourth-place so far this season.
Now, team boss Barry Walsh will aim to see the pair go one better in the season finale to lift the Mygale chassis onto the podium for the first time.
"It is amazing to think that just seven months ago we had not contested a single motor race as a team, yet now we are heading into the last race of the British F3 season with a strong package that has every chance of getting onto the podium, he said. "It has been an amazing effort by everyone involved. When we entered the first race of the season the car was not as competitive as we had hoped, but we have worked hard with Mygale and developed it into something that has enabled our drivers to threaten that podium breakthrough for several races.
"Rockingham is one of our home circuits, so we will be welcoming quite a few of our most valued supporters for this weekend's race. We are planning to make it a bit of a party, so we hope we get the results on track to make that party an extra special one!"
Neither of the two drivers have raced on the Northamptonshire circuit before, but remain hopeful of finishing the season on a high.
One thing that has let the team down this season has been qualifying, with the race pace displayed by both drivers being better than in qualifying and Guerrieri admitted that the team needs to get everything right this weekend to fight for the top three placings.
"We looked good at the last race and we are really on the pace now, he said. It is so tight in the top ten, though, and there have been some really tough races. To get right into the top three you need a good grid spot and a good start so that is what we are aiming to do to get the podium finish we need."
