Sebastien Buemi ended the season exactly how he had started it with a victory in the final Formula 3 Euroseries race of the season at the Hockenheimring.
A more decisive performance from fourth on the grid after lacklustre showing in the first race, the series runner-up battled his way up to second place in the early stages, just behind initial leader Edoardo Mortara.
Mortara had passed pole sitter Dani Clos on the first lap before pulling into a comfortable lead, but when Buemi also hauled his way past the Spaniard, he quickly chased down the Italian rookie.
Buemi, who was in the title reckoning until yesterday's race, eventually found his way through though to finish a comfortable 1.4secs up on Mortara.
Despite missing out on a third victory of the season, Mortara was a delighted second as it signalled victory in the Rookie Cup, the Signature-Plus driver putting in a superb second half of the season to usurp Franck Mailleux in the final round of the season.
New champion Romain Grosjean battled his way up to third from seventh on grid, bringing Yelmer Buurman along with him, while Clos and Mailleux rounded out the top six and therefore the points positions.
