The newest boys on the British F3 grid have seen their stellar efforts and performances throughout 2007 rewarded by being voted the best team in the series, seeing off the challenges of some ten rivals.
Ultimate Motorsport – which was incredibly formed from scratch less than twelve months ago and only launched in February this year – have come on in leaps and bounds as the season has progressed. Last weekend they saw what was without doubt the crowning achievement of their maiden campaign, when series organisers SRO acknowledged the professional approach they have brought to all areas of F3 and their staggering progress in transforming their unique and previously untried Mygale-Mercedes machines into regular podium threats.
The award was handed out at the end-of-season awards dinner, and collected by team owner Barry Walsh and team manager Jonny Ostrowski. Fellow team members were also on-hand for a well-deserved celebration which carried on into the early hours.
“Every one of the people involved in making this dream a reality deserves this award,” a proud Walsh stated. “They have all had a vital role to play, and what a job everyone has done. To have come from nothing to podium contenders in less than a year is a damn good effort.
“It is massively satisfying that our efforts have been recognised not just by the organisers SRO, but by everyone on the grid. We have come in with a job to do, and part of that job was to raise the bar in Formula 3. I think we have managed to push it up quite a few notches!”
“This year has been tough but it has also been fantastic,” added Ostrowski, “and one doesn't come without the other. I would like to say, again, a great thank you to everyone in the team. We have gone from strength-to-strength and we will only get stronger in 2008!”
Bernadette Fitzsimons, general manager of British F3 International Series organisers SRO London, insisted the decision to award Ultimate the 2007 British F3 Team Award had been an easy one to make.
