Prema Powerteam will once again call upon the services of their former driver Roberto Streit for this year's Macau Grand Prix, the Brazilian joining regular driver Renger van der Zande.
Despite a disappointing Formula 3 Euroseries season in 2006, Prema showed well at Macau last year and although neither Streit nor Kodai Tsukakoshi finished the final, both qualified inside the top ten and Streit set the fastest lap in what is Formula 3's blue riband event.
For 2007, Streit, who raced for Prema in the Euroseries three years ago, will return to the team to race alongside van der Zande, the Dutchman earning the chance to impress on the top stage after a race winning debut season this year.
Streit, who finished runner-up in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship this year, was delighted to be returning to the streets of Macau with his former employers.
"After the great experience in 2006, during all season I maintained good contacts with the Team Prema although I was involved in the F3 Japanese Championship.
“I definitely wanted to repeat with Prema the experience of the race at Macao. If last year I was a rookie and I had everything still to learn, this time I am going there to win. I am convinced that Prema can put me in such conditions in order to realise this dream."
While van der Zande will make his Macau debut this year, he insists he will not be hiding behind his rookie status in his attempts to make a lasting impression.
"After a first year in Euroseries Formula 3 with PremaPower Team I feel prepared for this challenge. I have looked many times at the on-board video's of former years, and it looks like a pretty difficult track.
“But the record of Prema Power in Macau is positive, so I must be able, even as a Rookie, to be a frontrunner..... The wonderful cooperation I experienced this year with the Prema Powerteam is a super inspiration for this race"
