Briton clinches second successive title at Zhuhai.

James Winslow's decision to forsake his involvement in the Australian F3 Championship was rewarded at Zhuhai as he duly clinched the Formula V6 Asia crown that he had been chasing in tandem with his F3 campaign.

Knowing that he needed a single point from the second race of the weekend to clinch the crown - despite missing the opening double-header of the season - Winslow was content to allow main rival Armaan Ebrahim the race win, eventually coming home third behind Adderly Fong.

"It was a debate whether I should race against my team-mate [Hiroki Yoshimoto] or to basically settle and get the points I needed for me to win the championship," the Briton revealed, "We were kind of debating it until I got into the car for the start of the race, and I thought I'd make the plan as I go along. I thought that, if I could make a good start and lead through the first corner, I'd be able to keep my head down and try to pull away because we had a good car. But I made a bad start, so the plan just folded straight away.

"Adderly happened to have the space to take me and I didn't want to do anything stupid, even though I felt quicker than him throughout the whole race. My team would have shot me if I had gone off fighting for second place for just a few more points. I could see Satrio [Hermanto] and Yoshimoto catching up from behind and I was hoping that they were not going to pull off any crazy moves. I'd like to thank them for that!"

Polesitter Hiroki Yoshimoto - who won race one on Saturday - did not get off the grid for the warm-up lap after a temporary gearbox glitch resulted in him having to start from the pit-lane, but he made solid progress during the race. That left Winslow and Ebrahim effectively on the 'front row' after their podium finishes on Saturday, and the Indian took his chance to lead from the opening lap, passing Winslow at turn one and pulling away.
