Having seen former drivers Juho Annala and Rodolfo Avila step up to the new Formula Master series in 2006, Performance Racing are set to follow suit after the British F3 International Series outfit confirmed an entry into the WTCC support series for 2008.
The team, led by Bobbi Issazadhe, will run two cars in Formula Master alongside its A1GP commitments with Pakistan, with the team boss confident of a fine season.
We've kept a close eye on Formula Master from day one and were thinking of joining the Series this year, Issazadhe said. We were running up to four entries in British Formula 3 though, on top of our A1GP racing, which meant it wasn't possible in 2007.
2008 is different; the Series has great potential and we want to be part of that. We will be a year behind so our expectations are realistic but with the team's experience and two good drivers, I'm sure we can be top ten contenders.
Series director Mauro Sipsz was thrilled to welcome the team into the series, which looks set to grow in 2008 after a strong debut season.
It is a pleasure to announce Performance Racing's participation in next year's Formula Master season, he said. We are enjoying great interest from several teams at the moment, which adds to the sense of achievement our debut season has already brought.
I look forward to seeing Performance Racing on the grid at our first 2008 race in Valencia next May.
