Jonathan Kennard enjoyed a solid debut on the GP2 scene at Paul Ricard last week, despite seeing his run with iSport International hit by mechanical problems.
An engine problem meant Kennard was unable to hit the track during his morning session and left him with only half a day on track although he was still happy with how things had panned out.
I was gutted about the engine failure, as the jump from Formula Three to GP2 is challenging enough without the loss of the entire morning, he said. I made sure I was out first in the afternoon session to try and complete as many laps as possible.
I immediately felt comfortable with the car, and got to grips with the circuit quickly, but it was a challenge as I had almost no time during the session to consult any data. I am looking forward to getting back into a GP2 cockpit very soon.
Kennard has also secured extra backing for his entry into the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix next weekend from the Noble Group who will also be supporting the GR Asia WTCC team and Danny Watts in the Carrera Cup.
To be racing in Macau and to be supported by the Noble Group is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for me and one I will grab with both hands, he said. I intend to fight hard to achieve a top result, but I know from racing there last year it is a very difficult and unpredictable race.
