Samantha Reid has linked up with Australian F3's leading lady, Leanne Tander, to contest next weekend's Clipsal 500 supporting triple-header in Adelaide with TanderSport.
The 20-year old, who lives just moments from the Adelaide street circuit in the city's southern suburbs, will drive a TanderSport Dallara-Opel F304 in the Opes Prime National Class, her first outing in a top-level F3 car after contesting the final two rounds of the 2007 championship in a Trophy Class 1996-spec car. The car will be that which team owner Tander took to second in last year's championship, and which claimed the National Class pole at Eastern Creek in the hands of Chris Reindler earlier this month.
Reid will test the car at Mallala on Monday, hoping that her local knowledge of both that circuit and the Adelaide layout - where she has raced for the past three years in Formula Ford - will give her an early advantage to ease her progression into the higher-spec machine.
“I'm really excited to have the opportunity to race at Clipsal,” Reid enthused, ”It's a massive opportunity for me to drive with a team as professional and with as much expertise as TanderSport. I've had a great relationship with both Garth and Leanne for a while now, so to be able to drive for TanderSport is a fantastic opportunity and one I aim to make the most of.
“Having raced at the Clipsal 500 in a Formula Ford for the last three years, I'm confident around the circuit – plus it's always great to race in front of your home crowd. I also know Mallala very well, which means, when I test the TanderSport car on Monday, I will be able to concentrate on learning the car."
TanderSport co-owner - and husband of Reid's new team-mate - Garth Tander said he was pleased that she was able to join the team for her home round.
