Carlin drivers Brendon Hartley and Andy Meyrick topped the time sheets during the latest Formula 3 test session at
Snetterton.
The duo led the six strong Carlin squad as the team completed another successful day of development and testing at the second official test of the season.
Red Bull racer Hartley continued the good pace he showed one the opening day of the test to again set the quickest time of the day.
The 18 year-old set his fastest time of the afternoon on old tyres which bettered his quickest time on Wednesday by over two tenths of a second. Fellow Red Bull driver Jaime Alguersuari continued his impressive form, to set the sixth fastest time of the day, despite being new to the Norfolk trackm while Racing Steps Foundation driver Oliver Turvey was blighted by technical problems later in the day and was forced to sit out the second session.
Australian Sam Abay, who also enters his first season of F3 this year, continued to make good progress at the Snetterton test, and spent the majority of the second day working on development of the F308 and testing new parts for the Carlin team.
Carlin's national class runners were also on good form, with Meyrick continuing his stunning form at the top of the national class, without using new rubber. The former Formula Renault racer has been the quickest national car in every official test session so far, while team-mate Kristjan Einar was running second quickest in the national class before technical problems hampered his progress.
“We made good progress with our test and development programme today,” team boss Trevor Carlin said. “Brendon and Andy were very impressive once again to set the fastest times in the championship and national class. Both Jaime and Sam continued to make good progress and worked on their test programmes.
