Stefan Wilson has received a major fillip to his British F3 International Series aspirations on the eve of the new campaign at
Oulton Park this weekend by being selected as one of the British Racing Drivers' Club's 14
Superstars.
The 18-year-old is already the reigning holder of the coveted
McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year award, and for a man less than a year-and-a-half out of karting, he admitted it had been quite some career progression.
I think during my last year in karting if someone had told me I would be the
McLaren Autosport award winner the next year and a BRDC
Superstar the year after that I would have struggled to believe them, Wilson confessed, speaking exclusively to
Crash.net Radio. The first year of single-seater racing really is a baptism of fire, so to win two such prestigious prizes was a great boost.
It makes me immensely proud to be part of the BRDC and be involved in the
Superstars scheme. Being associated with the BRDC is a great thing, and the work they're going to put in and the help they're going to give us to improve in all areas is essential really.
The Sheffield-born ace will be competing for Fluid Motorsport in British F3's National Class in 2008, and he insisted he would simply be taking things one step at a time. After triumphing four times
en route to the runner-up spot in his maiden full season of Formula Palmer Audi last year ten years after older brother Justin claimed the inaugural FPA crown Wilson already has his sights set beyond the forthcoming campaign.
