Jaime Alguersuari secured his second pole of the day at
Oulton Park ahead of the opening rounds of the British F3 International Series at the Cheshire venue.
Having already stormed to top spot in the opening session, the Spaniard saw off the challenge of Formula
BMW UK title winner Marcus Ericsson to make it two-from-two, beating the young Swede to pole by two tenths of a second.
Walter Grubmuller will start of the second row for the second race in succession having secured third place, with Brendon Hartley alongside him, while the top six was completed by Esteban Guerrieri and Max Chilton – although the 16-year-old was left to wonder what might have been having been blocked on his quickest lap.
Ali Jackson – despite having his fire extinguisher go off in the car – was seventh while Seb Hohenthal, Atte Mustonen and Sergio Perez completed the top ten.
In the National Class, Andy Meyrick took a second pole position of the day for Carlin – ensuring a 100 per cent qualifying record for the team – with Salman al Khalifa and Jay Bridger second and third.
