Oliver Turvey made the perfect start to his British F3 International Series campaign with a victory on his debut at
Oulton Park.
Starting from second on the grid behind team-mate Jaime Alguersuari, Turvey made the better start when the lights went green in damp conditions to lead into Old Hall and was never headed from that point onwards as he took victory.
Alguersuari had slipped back to third on the opening lap as Max Chilton also found a way past the Spaniard, but by the end of lap one he was back into second place and closed up to Turvey, with Brendon Hartley also passing Chilton on lap three to give Carlin the chance for a podium lock-out.
However, three laps from the finish, Alguersuari and Hartley made contact at Shell, with both forced to retire on the spot. It meant Chilton was promoted back to second place when the Hitech man remained to the finish to give the defending champions a solid start to the campaign, although team-mate Walter Grubmuller was forced to retire on the opening lap.
Atte Mustonen took third place despite starting down in tenth place, while Ultimate Motorsport team-mates Michael Devaney and Esteban Guerrieri were fourth and fifth, having started down in eleventh and 18th respectively.
In the National Class, Andy Meyrick took the win in twelfth overall from Jay Bridger and Hywel Lloyd. Salman al Khalifa retired from second place.
