After the disappointment of his retirement in race one, Jaime Alguersuari bounced back to secure victory in the second round of the British F3 International Series at Oulton Park.

The Red Bull-backed rookie led for most of the race before a Safety Car period was thrown after an incident for the JTR Mygale of Nick Tandy at Brittons.

At the point, the race was thrown into confusion with Alguersuari losing position to team-mate Brendon Hartley, and while Hartley crossed the line first, he was later hit with a penalty that handed the win back to the Spaniard.

Alguersuari made the best start to the race from pole position to lead into Old Hall when the lights went green while a storming start from Esteban Guerrieri saw him up to second in the Ultimate Motorsport Mygale. Front-row started Marcus Ericsson held third, with Hartley fourth and Sebastien Hohenthal fifth.

Hohenthal took fourth from Hartley at Cascades on lap three and Guerrieri slipped back to sixth after running wide at Druids, but the top ten became somewhat static before the Safety Car boards came out when Tandy dislodged the tyres at Brittons with his spin.

The Safety Car board was displayed at the start-finish line leading to the front-runners slowing, but after the field passed the scene of the incident, green flags were waved which led to Hartley and Guerrieri both moving up the order. However, back at the start-finish line, the Safety Car was waiting and this time the field lined up behind the Ford Mondeo for one lap.

Guerrieri slipped back to sixth behind the Safety Car but a broken radio meant that Hartley remained out front until the finish as the Carlin team was unable to communicate to the New Zealander from pit-lane. Although he took the flag in first place, Hartley was later demoted to fourth place as Alguersuari took victory from Fortec pairing Ericsson and Hohenthal, with Walter Grubmuller battling back from a poor start to finish fifth and Guerrieri rounding out the top six.
