Walter Grubmuller continued his solid early season form during the latest British F3 International Series test at
Snetterton, with the young Hitech driver posting the fourth quickest time during the final afternoon of running at the Norfolk venue.
The second-year driver tried out a series of new parts on his Dallara F308 meaning that the 19-year-old wasn't focused on going for outright speed, but he was still able to make solid progress despite a minor off track excursion during Tuesday's running.
“I'm happy yes, it all came together yesterday [Wed] and I was pleased with fourth overall in that final session,” he said. “I had a bit of a crash on Tuesday and spent most of yesterday morning getting back into it, then in the afternoon I went for it and it all came right. It should be good next week and I'm looking forward to getting back out there and then the next rounds at
Croft the following week.”
Team-mate Max Chilton, who missed the recent test at Croft due to a family holiday, returned to the track in the second car and posted the joint eighth fastest time as he settled back into the car after a two-week break following the season opener at
Oulton Park last month.
“It's been a weird couple of days really,” he said. “Tuesday was spent just getting back into the grove after missing Croft last week but yesterday I really went for it and was surprised to see how many of the quick drivers were behind me. It was very close out there especially with most of the other faster drivers running in ninth downwards, very weird.”
The team will now head to Rockingham for the next test session next week before heading to Croft for the second round of the year the following weekend.
