Briton defies qualifying odds to open account.

Race two was greeted by sunny conditions and, after a race-long battle with Maxi Gotz and Kodai Tsukakoshi, Bird overcame both to finish a remarkable sixth and take the final point on offer over the weekend.

“It's been an eventful few days,” he admitted, "but, after an unfortunate qualifying session, I bounced back and I'm quite pleased that I've opened my Euroseries account with a point.

"I had to dig deep this weekend, but I've got a great team behind me in Manor Motorsport and I'm lucky to have the support of some great sponsors, BP Ultimate of course, but also my new sponsor Marc 'The Edge' Ivey, who was here to cheer me on.

"The Euroseries is definitely very competitive, but I always knew it would be, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. I'm really looking forward to the next round in Mugello.”
