Having earlier seen Marcus Ericsson secure his maiden F3 pole, Brendon Hartley repeated the feat to secure pole position for the fourth round of the British F3 International Series at
Croft.
The Red Bull-backed Carlin driver edged out Ericsson for top spot during the second session at the North East venue, while Sergio Perez shone again to secure third on the grid.
Championship leader Jaime Alguesuari had set the early pace during the session while National Class leader Andy Meyrick again ran towards the top of the times. However one man in the wars early on was Michael Devaney, as suspension issues prevented the Ultimate man from building on his solid run during the opening qualifying session of the day.
Alguersuari held top spot until the ten minute mark, when Carlin team-mate Sam Abay – fastest in the second test session on Friday – jumped to the top of the pile, with Ericsson and Hartley following him in second and third.
Hartley then went fastest with Ericsson following him into second place and Perez jumping to third, with Abay fourth, Atte Mustonen fifth and Seb Hohenthal sixth.
The session was then halted when Niall Quinn went off in his Team Loctite National Class entry but shortly after the session restarted, the red flags were out again when Perez spun and stalled on track.
It left Hartley to secure pole from Ericsson, with Perez third on the grid alongside Oliver Turvey on row two. Abay and Mustonen will share row three ahead of Hohenthal and Esteban Guerrieri, with Alguersuari and Ali Jackson rounding out the top ten.
In the National Class, Meyrick was again the man to beat in twelfth overall, seven-tenths clear of Salman Al-Khalifa with Stefan Wilson third fastest.
