The contact with Ebbesvik led to a gravelly end to the race for both drivers, but not before notice had been served that Legris is going to be a force to reckon with this season.
"Jonathan produced a special performance," team boss John Miller commented, "If he had been able to qualify better, he would have been even further up, but to see him beating many good drivers in new Dallara F308s was amazing - to see him having the pace to try passing race one winner Alguersuari was almost beyond belief."
"It was a great shame for the whole team the way race two worked out, but Jonathan did a stunning job nevertheless - and to see him on the podium on Saturday was amazing," co-owner Gavin Wills echoed.
Legris opened eyes beyond Team West-Tec too, with series director and former sportscar ace Jesus Pareja, also commenting on his performance.
"To see a driver in an F300 racing in a competitive sixth place was fantastic," the veteran noted, "To see him doing it with only half a front wing on the car was just unbelievable!"
The Spanish F3 Championships continues at Spa-Francorchamps at the end of May and, with Legris having been quickest overall in recent testing, further giant-killing can be expected.
