Team boss expects drivers to challenge as F3 heads overseas.

Trevor Carlin has said he expects his drivers to be challenging for the podium at least this weekend as the British F3 International Series heads to Monza for the third round of the year.

Oliver Turvey, Jaime Alguersuari and Brendon Hartley have all tasted victory in the opening two meetings of the season and the trio have all competed at Monza in the past during their time in Formula Renault. Indeed, Red Bull-backed duo Alguersuari and Hartley both took to the podium with Hartley taking a victory along the way.

For Carlin's fourth International Class runner Sam Abay and National class runners, Andy Meyrick and Kristjan Einar, the Italian track will be a new experience.

Abay will be keen to bounce back from his hefty shunt in race two at Croft, when he spun on the opening lap and was collected by former Formula BMW rival Henry Arundel, while Meyrick will look to continue the form that has seem him dominate the National Class thus far – with 83 points from a possible 84.

"The season is really beginning to gather momentum now, and I think the main title challengers are becoming more obvious," Carlin said. "We had a great race here last year to take our second 1-2-3 of the season, but that doesn't mean to say the same will happen this season.

"For Brendon, Jaime and Oliver, the focus should be on getting consistent points finishes, and they should all be aiming for the podium. It will be very important for Sam to get a strong result this weekend following a big crash for him in Croft, as I don't think we've seen what he is capable of so far this season.

"Andy is aiming to extend his already impressive lead in the National Class championship while Kristjan should have the National Class podium in his sights."
