After making his debut in the British F3 International Series last time out at Croft, Oliver Oakes has announced that he won't make the trip to Monza this weekend for the third round of the year.
Oakes has made the decision to focus on development of the Eurotek Motorsport-run Dallara Mercedes ahead of the remainder of the championship campaign.
Having elected not to head to the Italian Grand Prix venue, Oakes will now prepare for the Bank Holiday meeting at Rockingham where he will hope to make progress on his twelfth place finish at Croft during his debut weekend.
"It seems like the sensible thing to do," he said. "Not doing Monza gives us time to prepare for the race at Rockingham (26 May). In terms of the Championship, we're on the back-foot now and I think we'd simply be making up the numbers if we went to Italy.
"The team did a great job at
Croft. I finished twelfth from 17th on the grid and beat several of the bigger teams but I don't want to be aiming just for finishes – I want to be winning."
