The Ultimate Motorsport team was forced to contend with changing conditions and a changing line-up as the British F3 International Series headed to Rockingham for the latest round of the season.
The Mygale squad welcomed Ali Jackson into its line-up for the weekend in Northamptonshire with Esteban Guerrieri having moved onto pastures new to take up a different challenge but it proved to be a trying weekend for the former Double R man on his debut with the team.
Qualifying was hit by a series of torrential downpours that meant the Ultimate team had to quickly find an effective wet set-up. Under tricky circumstances, Michael Devaney qualified twelfth for race one, while Jackson and Ricardo Teixeira qualified 16th and 22nd respectively.
The race got underway under mixed conditions, but it turned out to be an extremely short one for Jackson as his engine let go on the green flag lap and he was forced into retirement.
Devaney finished twelfth with an ill-handling car while Teixeira finished 15th despite a trip onto the grass to avoid making contact with his team-mate.
Race two saw Devaney, Jackson and Teixeira starting from seventh, twelfth and 19th respectively. Despite being boxed in near the start, Devaney launched an aggressive drive to finish fifth and add eight championship points at the finish.
There was more bad luck for Jackson though as he was forced to retire from seventh place after going off into the barriers, while Teixeria took another 15th place finish as his car went away from him on the drying circuit.
"It's been an extremely challenging weekend for all of us, under some quite unpredictable circumstances,” team manager Andy Richardson said. “Nonetheless, Michael did a particularly good job to score some points in race two, and Ricardo is continuing to improve. Alistair endured a difficult debut with us, but by working hard together I'm sure that we will be able to get the best out of his obvious natural talent."
