Sergio Perez remains the man to beat in the British F3 International Series despite a challenging weekend at Rockingham that saw the Mexican secure just one top six finish.
The T-Sport driver went into the Rockingham weekend buoyed by his double victory in Monza but instead saw his lead in the standings cut to ten points by Double R's Atte Mustonen.
Perez struggled in qualifying for both races which left the reigning National Class champion with work to do on race day. In dry conditions, he produced a fine drive in race one to come the field from eleventh on the grid to take the flag in fifth place. However, in wet conditions in race two, he struggled with the set-up of the car and could only settle for 13th place at the finish.
There was better luck for T-Sport's National Class pairing Salman Al Khalifa and Steven Guerrero both secured a podium finish in the National Class – although it was still a weekend of mixed emotions for the pair as the podiums would be there only finish of the weekend.
“Our National Class drivers certainly have the pace for podium finishes but they both need to improve their consistency to rack up the points,” team principal Russell Eacott. “Sergio managed to salvage some points in race one from what has been a difficult weekend for him.
“The British weather put a bit of a dampener on our weekend but we'll bounce back.”
