Briton on top in qualifying for Spanish F3 at Spa.

Will Bratt has taken his maiden pole position in the Spanish F3 Championship after heading the pack ahead of round three of the season at the Belgian circuit of Spa.

The 20-year-old lapped the challenging Ardennes track with a best time of 2m 17.348 seconds to take his first pole position in the category by seven-tenths of a second from nearest rival Nelson Panciatici. Series leader Victor Garcia was ninth.

“It's absolutely fantastic to achieve my first ever pole in Formula 3 and even sweeter that it's happened at an awesome circuit like Spa,” Bratt said. “I'm really looking forward to this afternoon's race as we obviously have a great chance to finish on the podium and, who knows, maybe even claim our first win in an F3 car.”

Currently in sixth position in the driver standings after the opening two rounds at the Spanish circuit of Jarama at the start of the month, Bratt lies just eight points behind Garcia in the title race.
