Michael Devaney has converted Ultimate Motorsport and Mygale's first-ever pole position into a maiden victory after resisting the race long attentions of Jamie Alguersuari from lights to flag.
The first time a non-Dallara chassis has won a race in British Formula 3 since Steven Kane took Lola to victory at the Mondello Park round of the 2005 season, Devaney completed what the team have been threatening to do all season.
Marking the turnaround of a frustrating season so far, Devaney proved his wet qualifying speed could be replicated in the race as hot and sunny weather descended across the Norfolk circuit.
Fellow Mygale-pedalling front row sitter Nick Tandy couldn't hold on to his position at the start, allowing Carlin's Jamie Alguersuari to sweep up into second place, where he would proceed to hound Devaney throughout the race. The Irishman would waiver though on his way to a historic victory.
Never allowing the gap between the two to go above one second, Alguersuari couldn't get into a position to make a decisive move, instead settling for second place ahead of Red Bull-backed team-mate Brendon Hartley. It is a result that lifts him to within a two-point touching distance of championship leader Sergio Perez, who retired whilst running in sixth.
Oliver Turvey completed a good race for Carlin by snatching fourth place, ahead of Fortec duo Sebastian Hohenthal and Marcus Ericsson, the latter of which getting bottled up behind his Swedish counterpart for much of the race but at least recording the fastest lap.
Tandy held on for another strong result in seventh, keeping Atte Mustonen, Walter Grubmuller and Sam Abay behind him to round out the top ten.
In the National Class, Jay Bridger closed the gap on series leader Andy Meyrick with his second win of the season. Meyrick finished second with Steven Guerrero third.
