Michael Devaney has completed a stunning double victory at
Snetterton after initial race leader Brendon Hartley spun off into retirement.
Completing a perfect weekend for himself, Ultimate Motorsport and Mygale by scoring a pole position and two race wins, Devaney's result launches him back up the championship order and now gives him outside title status.
Getting a good start from fourth to run second in the early laps, Hartley initially assumed the lead but threw it away on lap four when he spun at Riches and was unable to continue.
Gifting the lead to Devaney, he was pressured straight away by Sebastien Hohenthal, but where as he had to check his mirrors to the chequered flag in the first race, the Irishman was able to pull away this time to run out a 1.4secs winner.
Hohenthal was a rather lonely second to improve his title chances, ahead of Jamie Alguersuari, who recorded the fastest lap of the race but lost too much time stuck behind Atte Mustonen.
Mustonen had run third for much of the race, but would slip behind Sergio Perez and Oliver Turvey to eventually finish sixth. Perez's pass of Mustonen was particularly crucial as it ensured he got the points necessary to hold onto the championship lead, although he does now share it with Alguersuari.
Max Chilton bounced back from a poor first race to finish seventh, ahead of reigning Formula
BMW UK Champion Marcus Ericsson. Walter Grubmuller was ninth in the second Hitech car, while Stefan Wilson was an excellent tenth to come home as the leading National Class driver.
