Sergio Perez endured a difficult weekend at Snetterton to slip to second place in the British F3 International Series standings.

The Mexican ace went into the weekend on top of the championship table, but now lies one point behind Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari having only managed to secure one finish from the two races at the Norfolk venue.

Perez's weekend didn't get off to the best start when he qualified in sixth place for race one in wet conditions having struggled for grip on new tyres late in the session. However, second qualifying went more to plan with the Mexican securing a place on the second row of the grid, despite seeing two red flags hit his challenge during the session.

In race one Perez got away well and had already gained a position to fifth when he was forced to retire on lap nine after debris on track managed to get into the Mugen-Honda engine in the back of his Dallara and damaged the cam-belt. Having slipped back to sixth at the start of race two, Perez managed to battle back to fourth place at the finish to add vital points to his championship tally.

In the National Class, Steven Guerrero secured some good results in qualifying with a second and a fourth and managed to translate these into third and fourth place finishes in the races, scoring his third podium finish in his debut season.

Team-mate Salman Al Khalifa finished in fifth and sixth places in the two race, but struggled for all out pace after having to miss some of the recent testing.

"That was quite a hard weekend for us," T-Sport team principal, Russell Eacott. "What happened to Sergio in race one was unfortunate but he had a much better race two and managed to get a few points.

"As for the National Class guys, Steven had a much better time in both races and Salman ended a run of DNFs to take finishes in both races."
