Nico Hulkenberg has taken his third pole position of the F3 Euroseries season ahead of the latest rounds of the year at the Norisring.
The ART Grand Prix driver posted a quickest time of 48.696secs during the session at the German street circuit which saw him edge out Mika Maki by just 0.041secs for top spot for the seventh round of the year.
“Finding a clear lap with 29 cars and making no mistakes was not easy at all,” he said. “However, at the Norisring, pole position doesn't mean as much as at other circuits. After all, here it is fairly easy to overtake. The additional point is the most valuable at Norisring.”
Maki left it late to put in his lap which saw him jump ahead of Manor's Koudai Tsukakoshi with James Jakes and Jules Bianchi ensuring three ART cars will start inside the top five by posting the fourth and fifth quickest times. Jean Karl Vernay was sixth quickest for Singature-Plus and the first of the Volkswagen-powered machines.
The session was hit by a brief stoppage after Christian Vietoris put his Mucke Motorsport car into the wall. He ended up down in 27th place.
