Brendon Hartley made it two wins from two at
Thruxton with victory in the second British F3 International Series race of the weekend at the Hampshire venue.
Having been forced to fight his way through from fourth in race one to take his place at the top step of the podium, the race was much more straightforward for the Kiwi as he held the lead from the start and then fended off the challenge of Carlin team-mate Oliver Turvey to take the win.
The only worrying moment for Hartley, who was never really able to break away from Turvey, came when the Safety Car was deployed on lap 13 after Atte Mustonen and Sebastien Hohenthal touched at the Chicane – with Mustonen's car becoming stuck on the edge of the circuit.
After the caution period, Hartley maintained the lead to the flag, eventually coming home just under half a second clear of Turvey. Erstwhile points leader Jaime Alguesuari, who was forced out of race one with a puncture completed a podium lock-out for the Carlin team by taking third; the Spaniard running in the position throughout the race.
Sergio Perez, now back on top of the championship points, took fourth after a lengthy battle with Michael Devaney's Ultimate Mygale, with the double
Snetterton winner settling for fifth ahead of Hohenthal, who showed little ill-effects of his coming together with Mustonen to secure sixth. John Martin, Henry Arundel, Sam Abay and Philip Major rounded out the top ten.
In the National Class, Steven Guerrero made the most of problems for Jay Bridger to secure his first win of the season after a race long battle between the pair. Bridger had led the race before gearbox gremlins allowed the T-Sport man through for the victory. Andy Meyrick, who continues to lead the standings after finishing third; the Carlin man having started at the back of the grid following his qualifying accident.
