Defending champions Hitech endured a frustrating weekend at
Thruxton during the latest rounds of the British F3 International Series and Walter Grubmuller and Max Chilton narrowly missed on securing championship points.
The pair were left on the back foot for qualifying after missing out on the top ten during qualifying for both races, with Grubmuller lining up 14th and Chilton 16th for the opening race of the weekend.
Grubmuller took the flag in eleventh place while Chilton had to settle for 14th after a hectic battle with National Class pair Andy Meyrick and Jay Bridger with the pair then starting race two from 13th and 16th; Chilton having qualified ahead of his Austrian team-mate.
Grubmuller again finish eleventh with Chilton right behind, but team boss David Hayle was left to reflect on what might have been had qualifying gone to plan.
"I think effectively our weekend was over on Saturday," he said. "After the problems we had in qualifying it was always going to be difficult to make that up in the races as it can be hard to overtake here. However both Walter and Max made the best of it and once again got to the finish of the two races in one piece.
"Now we have to put this weekend behind us and move forward to the next rounds. We have shown time and time again that we have the pace to be quickest in testing and both drivers have shown race pace. Now we need to convert the testing pace into qualifying times to allow their race speed to come through in the form of some good results."
