Koudia Tsukakoshi gave Manor Motorsport's flagging Formula 3 Euroseries season a boost with a second podium of the season at the Norisring.
Despite running four drivers this season, two-time runners-up Manor have endured a tough season so far this year, but received a boost around the streets of Nurnberg when Tsukakoshi made the most of his third place starting position to finish second.
Matching his best result of the season at Mugello, the Honda-backed driver was relieved to have not been caught up in a first corner pile-up that developed around him.
“I had a good start and benefited from the collision in front of me. I had a little lack of grip and this is why Nico Hulkenberg was just too quick for me.”
The weekend was not so fruitful for Manor's remaining drivers though as lowly starting positions for Kazuya Oshima (26th), Sam Bird (18th) and Niall Breen (29th) left them with too much to do in the first race of the weekend.
Things looked up in the second race, but Oshima and Bird would eventually finish just outside the points in seventh and eighth in the shortened sprint race.
