Martin Plowman just missed out on scoring his first ever Formula 3 Euroseries points after an eventful weekend of racing at the Norisring.
With RC Motorsport looking for their first points since the season opener at Hockenheim, Plowman was hoping the always unpredictable street race would work in his favour this weekend.
It looked to be working early on in the first race too, with Plowman avoiding a first lap collision to immediately move up to 11th place from 20th on the grid.
Tailing Henkie Waldschmidt for a long period, Plowman made his move on lap 15 but was faced with the SG Formula driver coming across him and forcing him into a spin that dropped the young Brit outside the top twenty.
Although he would recover to race on, Plowman would eventually retire with rear wishbone problem. Notably though, Waldschmidt went on to finish ninth and just outside the points, suggesting Plowman could have been in contention.
“This has been a really frustrating weekend of events beyond our control that have prevented us from showing our true potential,” said Plowman, who was eliminated on the first corner of the second race too.
“The first lap of Saturday's race was awesome and we have definitely moved forward in terms of pace and just keep getting stronger.
“We will put this one down to experience and stay calm and positive for the next rounds at Zandvoort where we will be aiming for some championship points.”
