Jonathan Legris, Team West-Tec's 2008 Spanish F3 stand-out, will join the British F3 Championship on the
Brands Hatch GP circuit on 12-13 July after agreeing terms to drive the Litespeed F3 car in the National Class.
Having wowed F3 aficionados so far this year with stunning results in an eight year old Dallara, including two outright second places at Spa along with a new lap record, and other podiums at both Jarama and Albacete, Legris is well placed to use his talent and F3 experience to help develop the Litespeed chassis, which made a promising debut at
Snetterton last month.
"I am really looking forward to this and I'd like to thank Nino and Steve at Litespeed for having faith in me and also for John and Gavin at West-Tec for arranging it for me," said Legris.
Team West-Tec boss John Miller meanwhile added that he is 'delighted' to see his man add a further string to his bow to supplement his existing Spanish F3 commitments.
"We are interested in British F3 ourselves and you have to admire Litespeed for having the determination to bring another chassis to the grid," Miller continued. "We are interested in their project for the long-term and we will be doing all we can to support Jonathan in these first steps.
"It is also possible that another of our drivers, Christian Ebbesvik, will be involved in testing as they seek to develop their car to show its full potential ahead of a championship challenge next season."
Miller was disappointed to confirm, however, the erstwhile pilot Alex Waters would not be part of the team's British or Spanish plans after running into budget problems.
"It's a shame with Alex, as he was starting to make real progress, but we can't run an F3 car on thin air," Miller said, "Nonetheless, we wish him only the best for his future career as we now seek to find a replacement for him in our team."
