Unless a financial miracle unfolds over the next week and a half, Aussie Will Davison has raced his last race in the British Formula 3 Championship.

The young Aussie gun, who has started 2004 with a bang by taking three podium results in the first five races, is simply out of financial backing for his assault and is hurriedly trying to rally around to make it for the next round at Snetterton in a fortnight's time.

The 21-year-old, who is in his second year in British F3 with the Menu Motorsport outfit, is trying to stay positive and upbeat but admits the situation is somewhat dire.

"We've given it an absolutely massive push over the last few years but unless we can find additional funding in the next week and a half, I won't be on the grid at Snetterton," said Davison.

"There's been a lot of small investors but we just haven't been able to land the bigger ones to help me keep taking the steps I need to take to keep moving up the ladder.

"The Menu team have been very supportive and patient about it all but the commercial realities are that they are running a business and can't wait around for us forever.

"We've got until the middle of next week to try and come up with something. I've never been more determined in my life to make something happen as much as I want this to make sure I'm on that grid.

"The www.sellmyshirt.com site has been a moderate success but we are right up against the wall at the moment.

"If nothing comes off then I'll have to come back home to Australia and weigh up my options."

On the bright side, if Davison was forced to return home he would become an instant hot property on the V8 Supercar driver market.

Just as Marcos Ambrose's loss to European racing was V8 Supercar's gain, the same could be said for Davison, who won at Croft last year for Alan Docking Racing, the same team both Ambrose and Mark Webber competed for in the series.
